Create something valuable. Explain its value.

“Create something valuable. Explain its value.”

This was the prompt for the final Friday arts integrative experience for our Introduction to U.S. Politics and Government in Block 2. Over the course of the block, we explored political behavior and institutions anchored by the central question of Lasswell (1936), “who gets what, when, and how”. As the course developed, we considered how our notions of political power and political culture were shaped by our study.

For the final application project, we visited the clay studio at Bemis School of Arts on the CC campus to create our object of value. Below are some scenes from that creative and integrative experience.

PS 231: Political Campaigning

In Block 2, ten CC students joined the Harris/Walz campaign for a rigorous 3 weeks of on-the-ground experiential learnings across the state of Michigan. Below are a few of their reflection papers along with photos taken along the way.
